Paw's Place
04:36
|

It's my pa's place I'm picturing now.
He's got the back door open and the dogs running out.
And my brother's in the barn shouting for my ma.
He's yelling, "Come and see what I just saw."
Oh, won't come and see what I just saw.
And these letters I write I hope they say enough
to defend myself from what I've done.
And it's hard to leave but I know I gotta go.
Yes, it's been a good year and the crops they've grown.
Yes, it's been a good year and the crops they grow.
And it's something that's always on my mind.
Oh, if I'm doing.. doing it right this time.
And each morning I wake a little more confused.
Always finding better ways to do the things I do.
You see the people I meet they don't seem new.
No, their story's the same as me or you.
They work away and try for a while
saying, "I'd do anything to feel alive."
Oh yes, I'd do anything to feel alive.
And it's something that's always on my mind.
Oh, if I'm doing... doing it right this time.
And each morning to find something true.
Never regret a single thing that I had to do.
I never regret a single thing that I had to do.

Bad Conditions
04:16

I've been saving up my money; I'm gonna buy you a big house
And fill it full of all the things you love.
I've been searching all across the county.
Just trying to find the perfect one.
And every time you walk through the door I wanna see you smiling.
Knowing that we built this place here together.
And when you wake up surrounded by your brand new walls,
Don't want you to think that you're imprisoned.
Kinda thought that I saved you from bad conditions
And could it be the way I was raised?
To try and stay in one place?
Damn the blood that runs in my veins.
I've been thinking bout the places I grew up livin'.
And I drive by them from time to time.
I can't help but imagine who lives there now.
And the places they're stuck in just to get by.
And I never want to be the cause
just the reason.
Oh, that we ended up here together.
And when I give up on this world to some old way of thought.
Can't help but feel like I've been forgotten.
Kinda thought that you saved me from bad convictions
And could it be the way I was raised?
To try and stay in one place?
Damn the blood that runs in my veins.
And you can go back to sleep.
I'm tired of all your dreaming.
Tonight's just one of those nights
that I can't prove to you that I'm something I'm not.
It's alright you don't have to worry
Everybody's searching tryin' to find the answer
